The show last night was fun but weird. I ignored all tour-tightness and played pretty badly (well done me) and, I believe due to the sound restrictions there, it seemed very, very quiet and tame (hence weird). ok! Also i ate a shitty banana and we got paid 5 whole pounds to do with as we please. sweet. Don’t give up your day jobs kids. Oh, oh, oh AND Lymbyc Systym were really good, major fierce equipment set-up and major fierce drumming and major fierce nice guys equalled a good time for me. go team.
So anyway, I came on here to finally put something up about failedrockstar starting up again. Started by my brother, Robert, years and years ago as a way to express his creative urges (you know we all have them…).
It started first as a photocopied zine of his photos and drawings, then after inviting other artists and friends to contribute, it developed into a collection of drawings, writing, photos, illustration and design which in it’s last issue looked a lot like the lovely handmade beast you see on your right. —->
It did real well, the 200 copies Robert made of the last issue (doing ridiculous things like hand-stamping around 8000 individual prints) sold out within a month or two of their release, making their way all over the world, even on to the Gonz’s kitchen table.
No lie.
Anyway, blah, blah, blah it was good, etc…
So… after not doing it for a couple of years Robert is back on it, in the saddle and bringing along the other two members of his seminal hardcore band ‘Discharge’ (not that one)… myself and Andreas Konrath. It’s different this time around, i’ll let Robert, the wordsmith explain,
“it is initially going to be web-based, with the focus on interviews with creative people, artists, designers, musicians. The aim is to gain an insight and understanding of the creative process, and to give an opportunity to people to talk about the way their lives have been affected by their creativity.”
Alright! we’re going to interview some good people and hopefully find out why and how they create (basically). I’m excited. There are a couple of real good interviews already in the bag and hopefully we’ll get them up asap. We’re hoping to also put out some physical, tangible artifacts in the future that will retain the original quality and attention to detail Robert put into the first zines, until then it’s the internet where you’ll find us.
ƒrs 4 loife.
